Located within a tropical jungle, Tegenungan Waterfall or the neighboring village called Blangsinga waterfall offers a picturesque view in a hidden space of Bali. The blooming trees in the surroundings have successfully completed the beauty of the waterfall.

Located not too far from Ubud, Tegenungan Waterfall is the best place to escape from tourists’ area. The waterfall is claimed both by 2 different villages. Tegenungan village and Blangsinga village. Thus making the waterfall has 2 different entrances.

Compared to other waterfalls, Tegenungan or Blangsinga waterfall is categorized as a small-sized waterfall. The water fell down from around 15 meters high. Nonetheless, the water volume discharge from the top is quite high. The sound of water is roaring even from a half trek.

The beauty of the waterfall can be seen after stepping down more than 150 wide stairs. As visitors come in, there will be some bathing areas in the waterfall’s surroundings. The bathing areas are separated in an open space with the freshwater directed from the waterfall.

Taking a bath here is a great choice for visitors after swimming in front of the waterfall. Not only the visitors, but the locals around the waterfall also use the bathing area on a daily basis.


Although the water discharge runs quite fast, many visitors still come to swim in the pond. The depth of the pond is not that deep, thus swimming in the area must be fun and safe at the same time. The visitors even can go to the edge of the cliff, getting wet near the falling water. Not into another hike, the visitors also able to swim in the edge of the pond.

As the place offers a scenic view of nature, many people come to this place to take pictures. There are some favorite spots to take pictures, like the stacking stones. Aim the camera from the stacking stone will give a wide background of Tegenungan waterfall behind. Go early right after sunrise and score the best picture before any crowd.

Jumping From The Top

Tegenungan Waterfall has been a spot for attractions done by fellow travelers. Some of the travelers coming to this waterfall often bravely jump from the top of the waterfall. The action is done by the adventurous fellow success in astonishing other visitors.

As the visitors reach the parking area, make sure to pack water and food. There are food stalls and mini cafés selling beverages that the visitors can bring to the waterfall. Some of the food stalls sell snacks at affordable prices starts from IDR 10.000.

Most of the visitors either bring the snacks in or come after playing in the waterfall. In addition, there’s a restaurant named Bumbu Asli International near the Waterfall. The restaurant is at the top of the waterfall. High land with an open-air design.

From the restaurant, the visitors can obviously see the Tegenungan waterfall from above. Serving healthy Balinese and European foods. Bumbu Asli Resto also serves a selection of beverages, juices, Chicken Fried Rice and Grill Tenderloin Steak.

Tegenungan Waterfall Opening Hours

The Waterfall opens for tourists from 06.30 am to 06.30 pm. However, there are specific times when the waterfall gets at the most stunning view. The best timing starts as the sun half-rises at 09.00 am and a half-set at 03.00 pm. The place will get busy and crowd most at 12.00 pm.

The ticket counter located in the parking area. And to explore the upper side of the waterfall, there is an additional cost. The guest will also be charged for car parking.

How To Get To Tegenungan Waterfall

There is no public transportation heading to Tegenungan Waterfall. Renting a scooter for solo or couple traveler might be the best option. From Ubud main street head to Cok Rai street passing Peliatan Royal Palace and turn left.

At the roundabout take the first exit and continue onto passing the Kemenuh Butterfly Park. Turn right to Ir. Sutami street and go straight to the Pekandelan restaurant. There is a small street in the left turn which directs to the parking area of the waterfall.
